Cryotherapy in the Comfort of Your Own Home: Meet the Complete Human Viking

complete-human-cryo

If you’ve read parts one and two of our cryotherapy series, you already know the benefits of cold immersion and cryotherapy. Harnessing the power of cold is a great way to improve performance, relieve pain, reduce inflammation and enjoy long-term health effects. Advocates like extreme athlete Wim Hof, “The Iceman,” have been touting the benefits of cold immersion for decades.

Now you can get the benefits of cryotherapy in your own home. If you’re dedicated to health, fitness and bio-optimization, there’s no substitute for having your own cryotherapy tank. Complete Human practices what we preach, so we’ve designed our very own: the Complete Human Viking, which allows anyone to take a cold plunge whenever they like. We’re excited to share this convenient cryo tub with you!

Trying cryotherapy at a commercial location

The problem with cryotherapy is that if you frequent a cryo pod, the costs add up fast. As you know from part two of this series, dry air cryotherapy definitely has its advantages—but increased cost, a higher carbon footprint and inconvenience may outweigh the benefits.

If you go to a cryo pod facility like Restore and iCryo, you’ll pay around $50 to $85 per three-to-five-minute session. If you want to take advantage of cryotherapy daily—the best way to see results fast—that comes to $350 to $595 per week. It’s just not sustainable unless you’re flush with liquid cash.

On top of the expense, there’s also a time component. Going to a commercial location, signing in, getting the treatment and going back home can easily take another hour out of your day. If you’re truly dedicated to the benefits of cryotherapy, getting your own tub is the best answer. You can even use it multiple times per day, if you desire.

Before you take the plunge (literally), we do recommend trying cryotherapy at a commercial location. By going a few times, you’ll know whether this tool is right for you, or if you need to try something different. Remember, the first time is the worst time. Stick it out for at least three sessions before you dismiss cryotherapy completely.

Introducing the Complete Human Viking, our cryo tub

The Complete Human Viking cryo tub is designed to be convenient, environmentally friendly and cost-effective. Cryo pods are great, but when you really want to achieve the long-term benefits of cold immersion therapy, having a cryo tub at your disposal makes a big difference. Are you spending heaps of money on a fad—or are you truly improving your health?

Our tubs are designed for maximum performance. First, we use 100 percent pure copper in our tubs, instead of stainless steel or aluminum. That’s for two reasons: copper is a great thermal conductor, and it also has antibacterial, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory benefits of its own.

When it comes to thermal conductivity, copper is 30 times more efficient than stainless steel, and 1.5 times better than aluminum. That’s why you might use copper-bottomed pans on the stove or see copper fixtures in your air conditioner’s workings. When you want to transfer heat or cold fast, copper is superior to most other metals.

It’s also antibacterial and antimicrobial, meaning it can kill bacteria and microbes on contact. According to this study, “[b]acteria, yeasts, and viruses are rapidly killed on metallic copper surfaces, and the term ‘contact killing’ has been coined for this process. … Contact killing was observed to take place at a rate of at least 7 to 8 logs per hour, and no live microorganisms were generally recovered from copper surfaces after prolonged incubation.”

Copper is frequently used in healthcare settings, and has been acknowledged by the Environmental Protection Agency as “the first solid antimicrobial material.” It’s an added health bonus. Along with its anti-inflammatory properties, it was a natural and healthy choice for our cryo tub.

Why get your own cryotherapy tub?

Getting your own cryotherapy tub is a commitment—but it’s also a smart, environmentally friendly choice.

First, the cost alone is worth it. If you frequent cryo pods every day for a year, buying one of our cryo tubs will pay for itself in less than a year. When you add the potential for multiple uses per day, it’s a cost-effective solution for your health.

Second, cryo pods aren’t as environmentally friendly. They use liquid nitrogen to achieve their incredibly cold temperatures. While we believe that the manufacturing process of converting nitrogen into a liquid form is not particularly energy intensive, the cost of transporting liquid nitrogen to cryo pods is.

As you know, we’re experiencing a severe climate crisis. The goal of becoming carbon neutral as quickly as possible is essential to our survival. Any time we can encourage getting more trucks off the road, that’s a very good thing. Skipping the commercial cryo pods lowers the demand for transportation.

Finally, the convenience factor is well worth the expense. If you’re truly dedicated to your health, fitness and mental well-being—and you’ve already discovered cryotherapy is right for you—there’s nothing more convenient than achieving those goals in the comfort of your own home. Share it with like-minded friends and family, or enjoy it on your own. Plus, the less time you spend on the roads getting to commercial locations, the better.

If you think a cryotherapy tub of your own is the key to achieving your health goals, consider getting your own Complete Human Viking tub today.
